1. Watch
TV "Palumbo"
No better way to start than by diving right in. This is a track
that Rubén used to do during his rare live gigs. Rugged and
funky, "Palumbo" rumbles and tumbles. |
 |
2. Mai
Mako "Ciclos"
Mai Mako is a hip hop and jungle dj and the only female featured
on this album. "Ciclos" works a tuff-enuff bass together with sturdy
beats and unexpected samples for a result that everybody gets really
excited about. |
 |
3. Nava
"El Chalao"
Nava, the Latin specialist from Jazzin Club, steps up with perhaps
the most dancefloor-oriented song, which did not have a name until
they decided to sample James Dean from "Rebel Without a Cause."
"El Chalao" means "the nutter" in Spanish and it guarantees some
definite bootyboppin’ in the dancehall. |
 |
4. Mondomo
"Cosmoturismo"
Lounge-scandal outfit Mondomo features exotica technician Stereolove.
This track was originally entitled "Killer Lounge" as it takes a
smoky, jazz-flanged romp through a Tim Burton landscape. |
 |
5. El
Gran Lapofsky "Recess"
My second track to date and definitely the most complete thanks
to Watch TV’s production skills. A zoned out dub waltz worthy of
a big jazz cigarette. Featured on "Future Sounds of Jazz"
Vol. 7 (Compost Records) and in the Spanish film "El Arte de
Morir." |
 |
6. Kifali
"R.A."
Kifali together with Mai Mako form the DJ duo Soundstation. His
first track is thick, deep dub with smooth drum & bass stirring
underneath. |
 |
7. Watch
TV "Columbian Stargazer"
Watch TV strikes again with a truly hypnotizing mix of scat vocals
and weirdness compelled by a dubbed up, catchy drum groove. |
 |
8. Pez
"Entrelazadamente"
I still haven’t looked this word up in the dictionary but it must
have some romantic connotation. Pez from Novophonic recorded this
track in ´96. We really liked this one because it is not what
most people come to expect from the guy that did Digi Onze "El
Braille". |
 |
9. Fri
"El Pequeño Smith"
Fri (Chema from Jazzin Club) tells the tale of a travellin´
man. Punchy percussion and choppy breakbeats blend with sitars,
tablas, and psychodelia. |
 |
10. Mondomo
"Theme from Mondomo"
This song was conceived and basically finished in spring 99. It
is lush and graceful without getting too serious. Look out for Stereolove
adding in some "oohs" and aahs" on the mike. |
