What is Moods and Grooves? "Moods and Grooves" is an enticing, exciting record that fuses many different musical styles and emotions while maintaining that modern-yet-vintage Casbah 73 sound. Casbah took 4 years to complete the album, composing the music and playing guitar, bass, keyboards and electronic programming. He also painstakingly selected his samples, which slot neatly into place. In listening to the album you will probably recognize this new-but-old sound that Casbah 73 has achieved by mixing his live instrumentation with programming and samples. Prior to and during the recording, he combed the most unlikely second hand shops and markets from the Americas to Asia, and his 15,000+ rare record collection documents many of black music's best moments. In fact, many of the world's most famous DJs and producers from London to Tokyo get their records from Oli! He himself is a seasoned DJ, and his sessions are a sweaty musical treat which span brazilian, funk, jazz, disco, beatz and latin. |
